This Rickshaw Medium Zero Messenger commuter bag features a vintage color print of the ruins of Monasterboice Church and Tower, an early Christian settlement in County Louth in Ireland, north of Drogheda and Dublin, Ireland.
The print is a reproduction of a color plate in Antiquities of the County of Meath, with illustrations, etc published in Dublin in 1833. Monasterboice (Mainistir Bhuithe in Irish) was founded in the late 5th century by Saint Buithe and was an important centre of religion and learning until the founding of nearby Mellifont Abbey in 1142.
The ruins are notable for the 35 metre tall Round Tower and Muiredach's High Cross that stands 5.5 metres near it. It is named after an abbot, Muiredach mac Domhnaill, who died in 923 and features biblical carvings of both the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. The ruins today have not weathered substantially since 1833 and are popular with visitors
