A large poster, 48" x 38", that presents in detail the known world of the Americas in 1669. Main towns and rivers of both continents are marked.
Notable features include California and unexplored lands north of it as an island. The map extends east to Spain and the North African coast, and the west to New Zealand.
Many islands in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans are shown but the Hawaii islands are not on the map; they weren't discovered until 1778.
The map is frequently illustrated with small pictures of wildlife and natives, and sailing ships on the ocean. It is a digitally restored reproduction of the original by Nicolas Visscher (1618-1679).
