Syria National Flag Mobile Case

In 1972, five years after the Six Day War, I spent one summer in the Middle East. Still a student in those days I travelled throughout the Lebanon, Syria and Jordan. Damascus I found particularly fascinating and have fond memories of friendships, spending many hours in al-Hamidiyeh, Damascus' main souk, and the Umayyad Mosque, the Great Mosque of Damascus. Someday I hope to return and visit old haunts in an atmosphere of freedom. The awareness ribbon motif I present here is a design of mine that reflects a freedom that is still elusive.

The ribbon of awareness design is based upon the first national flag of Syria in 1932. It is a horizontally striped green, white and black tricolour flag with three red five-pointed stars in the centre of the white stripe. It is the flag used by the Syrian National Council and Free Syrian Army.

I've taken some artistic liberty in the design by having the ribbon showing the green and black bands of the flag at the top and bottom with the three red stars lying diagonally along the top band of white of the folded ribbon.
